An energy audit comprises a detailed analysis of an organization's energy performance, equipment, system(s), or process(es). It is, based on appropriate measurement and observation of energy use, energy efficiency, and consumption.
Energy audits are, planned and conducted to identify and prioritize opportunities to improve energy performance, reduce energy waste, and obtain related environmental benefits. Audits output include information on current use and performance, and they provide ranked recommendations for improvement in terms of energy performance and financial benefits.
Energy Audit Levels
A commercial building energy audit can generally be classified, into three levels of effort, in addition to the Preliminary Energy-Use Analysis (PEA), which is a prerequisite of any energy audit.
International standards allow for differences in terms of scope, boundary, and audit objectives.
Energy Audit Process
The energy audit scope is, determined by the project owner or facility manager in deliberation with the auditor. The process of conducting an energy audit may differ from project to project, size, and complexity and entails the following activities:
